Zürcher Kantonalbank statements: PDF, CSV and document identity
Zürcher Kantonalbank documents several ways to receive account information: PDF bank documents, spreadsheet-compatible account data and structured reporting channels. Its technical document guidance also explains that retrieving the same electronic bank document again can produce a different filename and signature. For an Excel review, identify documents by account, type and period, rather than assuming different filenames mean different transactions.
Get the right document first
- Sign in to ZKB eBanking directly with your authorized access.
- Find the electronic bank documents for the relevant account and statement period.
- Select the actual account statement and save the PDF using the available document controls.
- If your account service offers account data in CSV, choose the required account and period and retain the export selections.
- Before adding another download to your working folder, compare its document type, account and period with files already collected.
ZKB’s format matrix documents several reporting channels. Dataset is a separately described portfolio-data service, and ISO messages require compatible software; neither establishes one identical retail download menu for every customer.
PDF statement or native transaction export?
Use the statement PDF as the issued document reference. ZKB’s electronic-document specifications describe PDF bank records and explain that repeated retrieval can change the supplied filename and signature. Two differently named downloads can therefore represent the same period’s document.
ZKB’s reporting matrix lists account data in spreadsheet-compatible CSV and structured ISO account reporting. Its Dataset service separately provides transaction and position data in CSV/XML for portfolio systems. Choose the account-ledger source you need; an investment position file is not a substitute for checking-account transactions simply because both are CSV.
Checks that matter for this account
Document identity before filename
Compare account, document type and period before treating a repeated download as new evidence. A changed timestamp in the filename does not establish new account activity.
Positions versus account movements
Keep Dataset position records separate from cash transactions. A holding valuation is not an incoming payment.
Structured message scope
A daily statement and intraday report can cover overlapping activity. Identify the message type and period before merging them.
Account and currency separation
Retain the account identifier and currency. Do not sum CHF and foreign-currency ledgers into one unexplained balance.
Build a spreadsheet you can review
Create a document inventory before importing rows. For CSV, preview delimiter, date and amount parsing, then preserve references as text. For PDF data, keep a source-page field. Maintain a separate link between duplicate document copies instead of deleting transaction rows solely because the filenames look related.
For a synthetic CHF account, CHF 4,200.00 opening plus CHF 900.00 credits minus CHF 650.00 debits gives CHF 4,450.00. Downloading the same statement again should not double these amounts. Verify row-level overlap using account, period and source evidence; equal totals alone do not identify duplicate transactions or certify the document.
FAQ · Zürcher Kantonalbank
Can two ZKB downloads with different names be the same statement?
Yes. ZKB’s technical guidance says repeated retrieval can produce different filenames and signatures for the same electronic document. Compare account, type and period.
Is ZKB Dataset a general replacement for a bank statement?
No. It is a separately documented transaction/position data service for portfolio use. Choose the actual account record needed for your review.
Should a daily ISO report and intraday report be added together?
Only after understanding their scopes. They can describe overlapping activity, so identify message type, period and entries before combining.
Official bank references
The bank’s instructions take precedence. Menus and export options can differ by account, device and agreement.
