PostFinance statements: e-finance records and structured reports

PostFinance provides account documents through e-finance and its app, while business electronic reporting has its own formats and delivery channels. Start with the account statement when reviewing a period’s transactions. A tax certificate, interest summary or detail notification serves a different purpose. Keeping those source types distinct prevents the same payment from being counted once in a statement and again in a supporting notice.

Get the right document first

  1. Log in to PostFinance e-finance or the official app.
  2. Open the account document area described in the bank’s document help.
  3. Select the account and required period, choosing the account statement rather than a tax or interest document.
  4. Open and save the available statement, then verify its account, currency and dates.
  5. For business structured data, inspect the electronic account-document format and delivery service already enabled for your account instead of assuming a retail CSV option.

PostFinance’s support page points to downloadable account documents from 2018 onwards. Its electronic-document manual describes several structured reporting formats and channels; availability depends on the agreed service.

PDF statement or native transaction export?

The account statement supplies the issued period record. Tax and interest documents are listed separately by PostFinance and should remain separate in your source register. A summary figure is not an extra transaction merely because it appears in another downloadable document.

PostFinance’s electronic account-document manual explains ISO 20022 XML reporting and detail notifications for business workflows. Use compatible software when you already receive those structured files. A CSV overview documented for a cash-management tool has a different scope; do not describe it as a universal retail transaction export or rename XML into CSV.

Checks that matter for this account

  • Statement versus tax record

Choose the document type deliberately. An annual tax certificate cannot establish every transaction in a monthly account cycle.

  • Statement and detail notifications

A detail message can explain an aggregate account entry. Keep the relationship between them so both levels are not added to the cash total.

  • Delivery channel and service

Record whether a source comes from e-finance, a business reporting service or a cash-management overview. Their contents need not be identical.

  • Currency and account identity

Check the account currency printed in the source. Preserve each currency’s balances separately rather than assuming all PostFinance records are CHF.

Build a spreadsheet you can review

Retain original documents and structured files in a source inventory. When working from a PDF, preserve page references; when importing a compatible structured report, keep its message type and original identifiers. Store payment references as text and keep booking and value dates separately if supplied.

For a synthetic CHF account, CHF 2,200.00 opening plus CHF 500.00 incoming minus CHF 175.00 outgoing gives CHF 2,525.00. A supporting notice detailing a payment already contained in the statement should not add another CHF 175.00 debit. First establish the source relationship, then check arithmetic; neither step determines accounting classification.

FAQ · PostFinance

Where can I get PostFinance account statements?

The bank directs customers to account documents in e-finance or the PostFinance app. Select the account and statement period rather than a tax document.

Does ISO XML mean I should convert the statement PDF?

No. If you already receive compatible structured account reporting, import that through software supporting the format and keep the PDF as the document reference where available.

Can I add a debit notice to the statement’s payment row?

Treat the notice as supporting detail unless it represents a separate posted entry. Otherwise you risk counting the same cash movement twice.

Official bank references

The bank’s instructions take precedence. Menus and export options can differ by account, device and agreement.
