BMO US statements: paperless records and Excel review
For a BMO US account, use BMO Digital Banking and US help rather than a Canadian BMO eStatement guide. BMO’s US electronic consent agreement distinguishes agreeing to electronic communications from separately enrolling in paperless statements. That matters when you are looking for the actual account record: a preference change, notification or consent PDF is not the statement you need to turn into rows.
Get the right document first
- Sign in through the BMO US website or official US Digital Banking app.
- Open the statement and document area for the intended account.
- Choose the available period and the account statement, checking its document type.
- Download or save the offered PDF and verify the account and cycle dates.
- If you want future paperless delivery, review that account’s Digital Banking preferences separately from downloading the current document.
BMO US and BMO Canada publish different banking documentation. The Canadian statement archive and export features are not evidence of the same options for a US account.
PDF statement or native transaction export?
BMO US describes online access to bank statements in one location, with paperless settings selectable for individual or all eligible accounts. Its electronic communications agreement requires PDF viewing capability and permits retaining important documents by downloading or printing them.
The public US sources reviewed here do not confirm one universal personal CSV export procedure. Check the options available to your account before reconstructing a PDF table. A CSV feature described for BMO Nesbitt Burns or Canadian Online Banking for Business belongs to a different service and should not be represented as a US consumer feature.
Checks that matter for this account
Separate consent from enrollment
The BMO US agreement says electronic consent does not automatically enroll the account in paperless statements. Confirm your actual document and delivery settings.
Combined statement boundaries
The agreement refers to combined statements. When a file covers several accounts, retain the account section and check each balance independently.
US account identity
Use the account details on the issued US statement when naming your spreadsheet. Do not identify its country solely from a shared BMO logo.
Statements versus notices
The same digital relationship can include tax records, disclosures and notices. Verify that your file contains the required account activity before extracting rows.
Build a spreadsheet you can review
Retain the original PDF and make a source sheet containing account, currency, statement start and end dates, and page count. For PDF extraction or manual transcription, preserve the description exactly and keep a source-page column. Add classifications in separate working columns so the source remains reviewable.
For a synthetic checking account, an opening $1,100.00 plus $500.00 credits minus $230.00 debits gives $1,370.00. Repeat the calculation separately for any linked savings section. If a statement summary repeats a balance, keep it as a control value rather than another transaction; a correct total alone does not establish complete row coverage.
FAQ · BMO US
Does accepting BMO US electronic communications make statements paperless?
The US agreement says no: you must separately confirm paperless statement preferences in Digital Banking.
Can I use BMO Canada’s export instructions for a US account?
Do not assume the channels match. Start from BMO US Digital Banking and verify the available account-specific downloads.
What should I do when one BMO PDF includes several accounts?
Create separate tables or an explicit source-account column and check each account’s opening and closing balances independently.
Official bank references
The bank’s instructions take precedence. Menus and export options can differ by account, device and agreement.
