Bank of America statements: PDFs and spreadsheet checks

Get the right document first

1. Sign in through Bank of America Online Banking or the official mobile app.
2. Open Statements & Documents for the relevant account.
3. Select the account and available time period, checking the document type.
4. Open or download the statement PDF, rather than a tax document or account notice.
5. Confirm which account sections and statement dates the downloaded file contains.

Bank of America provides a screen-reader PDF preference in Statements & Documents. If you use assistive technology, inspect that option; a PDF download and an accessible reading experience are separate considerations.

PDF statement or native transaction export?

Statements & Documents provides PDF viewing and downloads. Save the issued file as the record against which the spreadsheet will be checked. The public documentation reviewed here does not establish one universal CSV path for every consumer deposit account, so check your signed-in account options instead of following instructions meant for another product.

Bank of America explains that eligible linked accounts can appear on a combined statement. That makes the PDF useful for reviewing several balances together, but it does not make a single opening-to-closing balance equation valid across all sections. Check images can supply supporting detail without becoming additional transaction rows.

Checks that matter for this account

• Linked accounts stay identifiable

  Assign each extracted row to the account section that contains it. An overall relationship summary should not be inserted as another account movement.

• Check images are supporting evidence

  Keep a check number as text and link any image to the corresponding posted row. Do not count the image and the ledger entry as two payments.

• Document types are not interchangeable

  Statements & Documents also contains notices and other records. Verify the PDF includes the needed transaction period rather than assuming every downloaded document is a statement.

• Closing an account affects access

  Bank of America advises downloading needed statements before closure. Build your local review from saved originals rather than relying on continued online availability.

Build a spreadsheet you can review

Create one worksheet per source account or add a source-account field before joining rows. Preserve the original description and check reference. Use a separate normalized date and signed-amount column so that review corrections do not overwrite the source text.

As a synthetic check, $1,250.00 opening balance plus $300.00 in credits minus $80.00 in debits gives $1,470.00 for one checking account. Repeat independently for each linked savings account. If the totals differ, inspect missing pages, account boundaries and fees; never insert a balancing transaction without evidence.
