Chase statements: download a PDF and prepare an Excel review

Start with the Chase statement for the particular account and statement cycle you need. Chase provides PDF statements through its website and mobile app. A commercial account activity download is a different product: do not assume a CSV option described for Chase Commercial Online is available in every personal banking screen. Keeping that distinction clear avoids converting a PDF when a suitable native export already exists.

Get the right document first

  1. Sign in directly to chase.com or the Chase Mobile app.
  2. On the website, open the main menu and choose Statements & documents.
  3. Choose the account and year; in the app, use Statements & documents in Document manager, then select Statements.
  4. Open the statement for the required cycle and save the PDF using the available save control.
  5. Check the account identifier and beginning and ending dates before preparing any spreadsheet.

Chase describes access to up to seven years of statements depending on account type. Check your own document list rather than treating that maximum as guaranteed for every product.

PDF statement or native transaction export?

The PDF preserves the issued statement, including the account and cycle information needed to check an extracted table. Chase says a paperless statement contains information for the account named on it; a dashboard showing several accounts is not evidence that one PDF covers all of them.

Chase Commercial Online documentation separately describes downloadable account activity, including CSV. If you use that commercial service, compare its date selection with the PDF period. For a personal account, inspect the actual download choices in your signed-in session; this guide does not extend the commercial format list to personal banking.

Checks that matter for this account

  • One account per review

Keep checking, savings and credit card records in separate tables. If you later combine them, add an explicit source-account column before sorting.

  • Cycle rather than calendar month

Use the dates printed on the PDF. A file downloaded in November can document a cycle ending in October.

  • Commercial download scope

Record the selected account and requested dates beside a Commercial Online export. Compare its first and last posted rows with the statement.

  • Transfers between Chase accounts

Preserve both account entries when reviewing household accounts. Match them as transfers later; do not delete one simply because the amount repeats.

Build a spreadsheet you can review

Import a native CSV through the spreadsheet import dialog, preserving account and reference fields as text. If only the PDF is available, first determine whether its text can be selected. Retain the original PDF and a page reference for every manually transcribed or extracted row.

For a synthetic checking example, an opening balance of $800.00 plus $450.00 in deposits minus $125.00 in withdrawals gives $1,125.00. Compare that result with the same account and cycle in the PDF. A matching total supports the arithmetic check; it does not verify every merchant description or certify the statement.

FAQ · Chase

Where are older Chase statements?

Choose the account and year in Statements & documents. Chase advertises up to seven years depending on account type; ask Chase about documents missing from your available list.

Does a Chase PDF include all my accounts?

Chase says it includes the information for the account listed on the statement. Download the other account statements separately when your review spans several accounts.

Must I convert a commercial statement PDF to CSV?

Not necessarily. Chase Commercial Online documents a native account activity download including CSV. Check whether its period and contents meet your need before considering PDF extraction.
